ECOLOGY
Biodiversity and ecology are a very important part of our design practice. Ecosystems are the most complex, dynamic and awe inspiring elements on earth and also the most vital. We are heavily reliant on these systems being healthy and functional and must recognize that we are also a part of these systems. Many of us are living increasingly sterile lives and the evidence is stacking up in regard to our connection to nature and our mental health.
“The healing of the land and the healing of the human spirit are the same process"- Masinobu fukuoka
Our relationship with the natural world is fascinating and is something that must be addressed. Our goal is to push creativity and innovation in these areas: it is not possible to go backwards and therefore forward thinking approaches are pivotal if we are to engage people and create solutions that are feasible for the world we live in today.
We are making many areas inhospitable for many forms of life, from vast areas of rural agriculture to urban spaces. Gardens now form a significant land mass and the way we think about our small patches of ground can have an impact on a larger scale. With increasing populations, the urban landscape presents an opportunity to create some of the most exciting innovations and a shift is already taking place. Nature permeates the urban landscape, whether we like it or not, lets embrace this fact and recognize that we are part of the natural world and not something separate.
We are keen to work with other experts and professionals to continue to push these ideas forward by creating innovative and creative approaches to design to work towards a healthier future.
