Testimonials

The garden is fantastic! Beautiful! Amazing! A friend visited a few weeks ago that hadn't seen it before and he was blown away by it. He said it felt like being on holiday, which is how we feel about it. We're already picking things to eat from it and we're looking forward to the bounty ahead.

Steve has completely transformed our garden into something we could only have dreamed of, incorporating lots of different ideas we threw at him. We now have a truly special garden that's multifunctional, full of nature and that our 4 year old loves to explore.

We were hooked on his creativity and eye for design. Biodiversity and ecology were really important to us, having two small children and living in a busy city, we needed a space that will grow and evolve with us and this is something that Steve is extremely passionate about.

Steve is a visionary, a dedicated professional with the ability to deliver beautiful and sustainable projects whilst never compromising on his values as a pioneering eco friendly garden designer. He champions reuse, recycling, naturalistic planting, and sustainable materials, and I am always thrilled to work along side him.

To step outside barefoot with my 1 year old daughter each morning and wave "hello" to each new flower that appears, and to watch my 6 year old's face full of excitement when he picks herbs and strawberries and offers them to friends - it's what a garden is about really isn't it?

Leoni

Clifton, Bristol

Steve took me through his design process, thinking about different spaces, materials, and plants. His design has given me so much to think about, but with a clear direction and framework. I feel that the changes we make to our garden, even if it is in stages, will ultimately give us the garden to relax, cook and entertain in.

Steve took our love of native hedgerows and woodland and brought it to life in our little garden. Steve's knowledge of plants, combined with a keen eye for architectural structure has given us a garden which has exceeded our wildest expectations. It is a constant delight and joy, no matter what the season.

It was really interesting to be talked through the design process and I'm so looking forward to implementing it, as it's not only achievable but also a brilliant layout and the planting is absolutely in line with our values and interests in terms of developing our green spaces.

It was brilliant to have the opportunity to talk to Steve about my plans for the garden and get his advice. I had been undecided about how to redesign the garden for years, and how to make it good whilst being on a low budget. Being able to stand in my garden and share ideas with a wild garden expert was invaluable.

The workshop with Steve gave me a clear idea of hard standing versus planting, how to work with how we currently use the garden and also how to best navigate the roots around our existing tree. I have a planting list that I can pick and choose from, as well a paving plan to take to a contractor.

Reclaimed and reused materials

Reused and reclaimed materials are an important part of how we approach ecological garden design. Old brick, stone, timber and concrete are often retained and reworked into new layouts, bringing character and grounding each space in its history. Using what is already there reduces waste and adds a sense of continuity between the house and the garden. These materials sit naturally alongside planting, creating urban gardens that feel layered, honest and connected to their surroundings while still being carefully composed and refined.

Food Forests & edible gardens

Two light-colored mushrooms nestled among lush green foliage and leaves.

Productive planting belongs within refined spaces when it is thoughtfully integrated. Fruit trees, shrubs, herbs and perennial crops are layered into the wider planting strategy, creating edible landscapes that are both beautiful and resilient. Food forests designed in this way support pollinators, improve soil systems and contribute to everyday life whilst also being beautiful spaces to spend time in.

Structured wildness

Structure creates freedom. Clear hard landscaping and defined spatial frameworks bring order to the garden, allowing planting to move, seed and evolve without feeling unmanageable. This balance is central to the studio’s urban garden design approach. Wild enough to support biodiversity, controlled enough to sit confidently alongside contemporary architecture.
